Resilience Evaluation–Social Emotional Training Program

Evaluation and personalized recommendations for adolescents and young adults experiencing early changes in thinking, emotions, behavior, or day-to-day functioning.

Early support, building resilience

Understanding changes. Finding support.

The Resilience Evaluation–Social Emotional Training Program (RE-SET) is part of the Psychosis Clinical and Research Program (PCRP) at Massachusetts General Hospital. The program serves young people ages 12–30 whose changes in thinking, feelings, or behavior are affecting relationships, school, or work. Its focus is evaluation and support for managing emotions and stress.

Changes you may notice

  • Trouble concentrating or communicating thoughts
  • Unusual perceptions, beliefs, or increased suspiciousness
  • Difficulty keeping up at school or work
  • Less social contact, motivation, or attention to self-care

Making sense of these experiences

These changes do not necessarily mean a serious mental illness is developing. An evaluation can help clarify what is happening and identify appropriate support.

Care shaped around individual needs

What to expect

A diagnostic evaluation guides individualized recommendations. Depending on your needs, these may include:

Skills and support

  • Individual or group skills training for emotions and stress
  • Education and support for families
  • Coordination with schools, primary care, and other providers

Evaluation and treatment options

  • Medication, when appropriate
  • Neuropsychological testing
  • Additional resources or referrals for specialized care

Taking the next step

Referral and eligibility

Complete the referral form to request consideration for RE-SET services. For questions, call 617-643-1175.

Residency and insurance

Services require Massachusetts residency and insurance that contracts with the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization (MGPO).

Unsure where to begin? The existing RE-SET page also offers a brief anonymous questionnaire about whether further evaluation may help.
