Medication care focused on long-term recovery
The Recovery and Ongoing Care Clinic (ROCC) evaluates and provides psychiatric medication treatment to adults with an ongoing psychotic illness.
Who the clinic serves
- Adults age 18 or older
- People diagnosed with a psychotic disorder, such as schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder, more than five years ago
- Residents of Greater Boston
When ROCC may be appropriate
- Your current medication is effective and you need ongoing psychiatric medication care
- You have not yet found an effective medication and would like to explore other treatment options
- You no longer need the intensive coordinated specialty care provided by FEPP
The ROCC model
Focused psychiatric medication treatment
ROCC provides medication-focused care for people living with an established psychotic illness. The clinic primarily serves former FEPP patients who need to continue receiving their medical care at MGH after completing the more intensive phase of coordinated specialty care.
ROCC provides
- Evaluation of ongoing psychiatric medication needs
- Continuation of currently effective medication treatment
- Consideration of new medication options when current treatment is not effective
- Group therapy
Important to know
Group therapy is available through ROCC. Individual therapy and case-management services are not currently available.

What to expect
Every referral is reviewed for clinical appropriateness. The ROCC team considers your diagnosis, treatment history, current medication needs and whether medication-focused ongoing care is the right fit.
ROCC primarily serves FEPP graduates who no longer require intensive coordinated specialty care but continue to need psychiatric medication treatment at MGH.

The team reviews every referral and may contact you for additional information.

If ROCC is appropriate, the team will discuss evaluation and treatment options.
The screening process may take time. Submitting a referral is not a guarantee of treatment.

The ROCC care team
ROCC brings together clinicians experienced in the ongoing treatment of psychotic illness. Dr. Alexandra Volpacchio provides group therapy as part of the program, complementing ROCC's psychiatric medication treatment with a supportive group-based service.
